Access to Donor Funding for Local Governments in Africa, September 2008

The First UK Albania Investment Forum, May 2008

On 7th May, 2008 over 180 delegates attended the First UK Albania Investment Forum at One Whitehall
Place in central London. The Albanian Government, represented by its Minister of Economy and Energy, further key ministers, central bank governor, investment agency and several major businesses came to the UK for the purpose of engaging with the investment community from the UK.

A number of specific investment projects and opportunities were discussed in detail with key note presentations also made by British parliamentarians and the business community.

The Tanzanian Investment Forum, April 2008

On 17th April, 2008, DMA managed the First UK/Tanzanian Investment Forum. Over 200 delegates attended the UK Tanzania Investment Forum at Savoy Place in central London. The Tanzanian Government, represented by its Vice President, key ministers, Central Bank Governor, investment centre and major businesses came to the UK for the purpose of engaging with the investment community from the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.

DFID Conference 08

In February 2008, DMA again organised an IMF, DFID and Government of Nigeria Workshop on Globalisation and Revenue Mobilisation in Abuja, Nigeria. In total, 140 people attended the event, including delegations from nine countries.

Attendees included ministers of finance, heads of revenue authorities, directors of policy, directors for revenue management and a senior delegation from the IMF. The Head of the IMF, Dominique Strauss Kahn and DFID Chief Economist, Tony Venables, were amongst the key note speakers.

Launch of UK Remittances Customer Charter, December 2008

DMA were tasked by the UK’s Department for International Development to organise a press launch for the UK remittances Customer Charter, a voluntary Charter developed by the UK Remittances Task Force.

Shahid Malik, Undersecretary of State for International Development officially launched the Charter in January 2008 at DFID headquarters with presentations also made by Seymour Fortescue, Chairman of the UK Remittances Task Force, Leon Isaacs, CEO of DMA and HE Melvin Chalobah, High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to the UK.
