Trade and Investment Mission to Antigua and Barbuda
The United Kingdom - Antigua and Barbuda Trade and Investment Mission was a multi-sector, three-day event held in St. John's, Antigua from March 11th to March 14th, 2024. The event was focused on trade and investment and included general economic briefings for attendees, networking opportunities with local and international businesses, sector-specific roundtables, and success stories. Delegates joining predominantly held positions at the level of CEOs, CFOs, Boardroom Directors, and Business Strategy Directors of leading UK companies interested in exploring trade and investment opportunities in the Twin Island state. Although the mission covered various sectors, it specifically emphasised the key economic sectors of growth for Antigua and Barbuda, including infrastructure, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs), and the blue and green economy.
The first day kicked off with an official opening ceremony featuring remarks from notable figures such as Honourable E.P. Chet Greene and HMA Scott Furssedonn-Ward and HE Karen-Mae Hill among others. This was followed by informative presentations on trade competitiveness and the CARIFORUM-UK Economic Partnership Agreement. Attendees then engaged in a senior technicians panel discussing various offers from Antigua and Barbuda. The second day involved high-level meetings with government officials, followed by a tour of the island's industries and sites. On the final day, the delegates were invited to Barbuda, and taken on site visits to various local businesses and development projects.
A separate visit to Montserrat took place on Day 4, with meetings held between the Government, its Cabinet led by its Prime Minister and a courtesy call with the Governor of the incredible island.
