Roger began his professional career in politics, primarily in the areas of European integration and overseas aid, from which he then worked as a private secretary for two Prime Ministers.
Moving into industry, initially as a public affairs head and then broadening to cover corporate affairs and communications, Roger worked for international European and American companies covering the fields of engineering, ICT and finance. His areas of responsibility took him across four continents. In the latter years he was a consultant to MCI and Accenture developing industry analyst relations before returning to a focus mainly on Africa, working with AML and then DMA advising outside companies and assisting governments on that continent.
Roger studied international relations at the University of Sussex for his first degree and then at Johns Hopkins SAIS (School of Advanced International Studies).
