
John was the Member of Parliament for Selby from 1997-2010 and for Keighley from 2017-2019. In 2020 he helped organise Keir Starmer’s Labour leadership campaign in Yorkshire and the Humber.
John currently chairs the Mongolian British Chamber of Commerce. From 2013 to 2015 Grogan chaired the Hatfield Colliery Trust, which was responsible for the employee-owned mine near Doncaster. Whilst an MP, John chaired the APPGs for Albania, Kosovo, Peru, Mongolia, Ukraine and Portugal alongside being a member of the Northern Ireland and Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committees.
Way back in 1982 John was the first Labour President of Oxford University Student Union, before working in local government and the European Parliament. Currently he chairs the Committee for One Yorkshire Devolution.
