Jason de Carteret

Jason leads the Africa practice of the UK’s largest solar company, SolarCentury. Prior to this, and to a number of roles in global companies in emerging markets, Jason was a world-renowned polar explorer and held land speed records in both the Arctic and Antarctic.

In 2005 he took part in the Ice Challenger Expedition and in 2011, was part of a team who used biofuel and solar panels as alternative fuel to power their vehicle across the South Pole, to demonstrate that green technologies could thrive even in the harshest environments.

Beyond the poles, Jason has been involved in expeditions all over the world but particularly in sub-Saharan Africa where, amongst a number of achievements, he led the first unsupported trek along the Skeleton Coast of Namibia – one of the world’s oldest and most inhospitable coastlines.  Jason is an experienced helicopter pilot and has been the focus of a number of documentaries on the Discovery Channel.
